The Italian baritone, Omar Kamata, graduated in singing from the Conservatorio di Vicenza. In 2004 he won the XXXIV Concorso Internazionale Toti Dal Monte which would lead him to sing Figaro in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Comunale di Treviso. As the finalist of the 2005 Concorso Lirico Alfano, he participated in a concert at the Teatro dell'Opera del Casinò di Sanremo filmed by RAI and broadcast on RAI UNO.
Omar Kamata is a baritone with a versatile voice and interpretive sensibility; because of these qualities he works in different repertoires and is often hired for character roles, ranging from the comic repertoire as well as to the dramatic. From 2004 to today there have been various debuted roles: Figaro in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Colas in W.A. Mozart's Bastiano e Bastiana, Ben in Menotti's Il Telefono, Belcore in Donizetti's Elisir d'Amore, Guglielmo in W.A. Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, Malatesta in Donizetti's Don Pasquale, Marcello and Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème, Germont in Verdi's La Traviata, Haly in Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri, Danilo in Lehàr's Merry Widow, Ping in Puccini's Turandot, Dandini in Rossini's La Cenerentola, Rigoletto in Verdi's opera of the same name, Escamillo in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Silvio in Leoncavallo's Pagliacci. At the Teatro Goldoni in Venice he sang in two works by Galuppi: L'Inimico delle Donne (first performance in modern times) and La Calamita de' cuori (first absolute performance). He has been in various operatic productions as interpreter of other leading roles in Falstaff, Otello, Cavalleria Rusticana, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Il Trovatore, Gianni Schicchi, Tabarro and more. Rossini's Figaro is particularly congenial to him and has been performed by almost 300 times. in many Italian and foreign stages.
Many theaters and events have hosted Omar Kamata, to name just a few: Teatro Olimpico di Vicenza, Teatro Comunale di Belluno, Teatro Goldoni di Venezia, Teatro Comunale di Treviso, Teatro Verdi di Padova, Teatro Regina di Cattolica, Teatro Mancinelli di Orvieto, Teatro MART di Rovereto, Teatro Romano di Benevento, Teatro Comunale di Adria, International Festival Barockstage Stift Melk in Austria (with ORF footage and recordings), in the main theaters of Central America (in Guatemala at the Teatro Miguel Angel Asturias, in El Salvador at the Teatro Presidente and at the Teatro Nacional, in Honduras at the Teatro Nacional, in Nicaragua at the Teatro Ruben Dario, in Costa Rica at the Teatro Melico Salazar and at the Teatro Nacional, in Panama at the Teatro Anayansi). He has worked with conductors such as A. Albiach, M. Beltrami, B. D'Astoli, A. Faldi, T. Gagliardo, R. Gianola, Fabio Maestri, E. Maschio, S. Monterisi, G.B. Rigon, Fabrizio Da Ros, A. Sangiorgi, A. Sisillo, M. Taddia and with the stage directors M. Bellussi, A. Cabassi, C. Del Monaco, F. Esposito, L. Golat, I. Nunziata, C. Juri, M. Pezzutti. He has worked with other names such as C. Juri, R. Bruson, F. Zeffirelli, H. de Ana, D. Agiman, D. Oren, J. Kovatchev. He will soon be Sharpless in Puccini's Madama Butterfly in over 20 performances for a tour that will touch most of the European countries. |
