Ahmet Kahyaoğlu (Conductor)

Born: Turkey

The Turkish conductor, Ahmet Kenan Kahyaoğlu, studied between 1979 and 1984 at DEU GSF Music Research Department; between 1979 and 1990 he studied piano with Betül Çağlar, Adnan Atalay, Nurhan Cangal and Vedat Çorbacı; and between 2007 and 2009 he studied conducting with Winfried Müller, General Music Director of Izmir State Opera, 20th century contrapunt techniques with Onur Nurcan, conducting with Jean Bealy and Tulio Gagliardo, General Music Director of İzmir Devlet Opera ve Balesi.

Ahmet Kahyaoğlu, who started his career as a choral singer and pianist, has been working at İzmir Devlet Opera ve Balesi since 1983. In the 1985-1986 season, he worked as a music instructor in the children's play Polaria. Between 1986 and 1988, he worked as the pianist of İZDOB Çocuk Korosu'nun (IZDOB Children's Choir). Sihirli Dünya (director, arrangement and piano), Bir Tenor Aranıyor (conductor), A Midsummer Night's Dream (choir conductor), Carmen is Carmen (conductor), Kösem Sultan (assistant conductor), Keloğlan (conductor), Nino Rota's La Notte di un Nevrastenico (conductor), Arşın Mal Alan (orchestra assistant conductor), The Lady of the Camellias (orchestra assistant conductor), Lüküs Hayat (orchestra conductor), Kanlı Nigar (chorus and orchestra conductor), Hekimoğlu (chorus conductor), Camille Saint-Saëns's Samson and Dalila (chorus conductor), Yunus Emre Oratorio (chorus conductor), Il barbiere di Siviglia' (chorus conductor), Şekeronya (orchestra conductor), Çakırcalı Efe (orchestra conductor).

Ahmet Kahyaoğlu's compositions and arrangements include Promenade Dans le Bois (arrangement for choir), The Muppet Show' (arrangement for choir), Sevda - Atatürk'ü Anış Lied for mezzo-soprano, Kurtuluş Kantatı (libretto: Murat Göksu), İlahi, Bu Ne Biçim Dava (aria for soprano from the completed first act), Cumhuriyet'e 75. yıl Marşı', Lied to three poems by Orhan Veli Kanık (Son Türkü 1998-2000, Uyku - 1999 and Şarkı - 2000), arrangement of the soprano aria from George Frideric Handel's opera Rinaldo for choir and orchestra, Lied to eight poems from Professor Murat Tuncay's poetry book Orta Yaş Mızırtıları, numerous orchestral, children's choir accompaniments, polyphony and arrangements, production of the radio programs 'Radyoda Opera', 'Aryalar ve Liedler, 'Duygulardan Notalara', 'Maestro' broadcast on TRT Radio 3.
