Peiqi Huang (Soprano)

Born: China

The Chinese soprano, Peiqi Huang, obtained her Diploma in Music Education, Voice at Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music (September 2016-May 2017); and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Central Conservatory of Music (Class of 2018). She was Music Instructor at Beijing Dance Academy (August 2017-May 2018). She then moved to the USA, where she obtained her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (2018-2020). She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Literature at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (since August 2020; expected garduation: 2023), studying with Dr. Ollie Watts Davis. She was the runner-up in the 2022 UISO Concerto Competition. She also received 3rd place in the 2021 Roberto DeSimone Memorial Competition and Excellence Award in the 2019 Bologna International Vocal Competition and the Top Performance Award in the 3rd Hong Kong International Music Festival. In 2022, she was finalist at Vocal Competition of Musicians Club of Women.

In operatic engagements, Peiqi Huang recently performed as Musetta in La Bohème at Bayview Music Festival (2022) and Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro with Lyric Theatre @Illinois (2022). Her other operatic roles include Tonina in Prima la musica e poi le parole (Eastman Opera Theatre, 2020), Papagena (Eastman Opera Theatre, 2019) and First Lady (Utah Vocal Art Academy, 2019) in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Euridice in Le Carnaval de Venise (Eastman's Collegium Musicum, 2019) and Venus in Venus and Adonis. (Eastman's Collegium Musicum, 2020).

As a soloist, Peiqi Huang was invited to perform as a soprano soloist in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.4 with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by world-renowned conductor Andreas Delfs, in April 2021. She was the soprano soloist in Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater with Concerto-Urbano Baroque Ensemble (2022). She was also soloist in Eastman School of Music: Bach Cantata Series.
