The Dutch organist, carillon player, conductor and music teacher, Jan-Geert Heuvelman, studied organ as a major with Reitze Smits at the HKU = Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (Bachelor of Arts degree in Organ: 2002-2006). He also studied music education at the Conservatorium Artez in Zwolle (2007-2009). In June 2015 he completed his Master of Arts degree in Carillon at the Nederlandse Beiaardschool with Frans Haagen (2013-June 2015). In June 2015 he won 2nd prize at the international carillon competition in Goes. As a second major, he took choral conducting lessons with Rob Vermeulen.
Jan-Geert Heuvelman is principal organist of the Van Eeken organ in the Noorderkerk in Rijssen (since April 1999). As a carillon player, he is the regular player of the Eijsboutsbeiaard in de Gudulatoren in Lochem (since May 2013), where he provides the weekly performances. He also plays carillon concerts in various places in the the Netherlands. For example, he played in Festival Oude Muziek in Utrecht.
Jan-Geert Heuvelman teaches music at the Van Lodenstein College in Amersfoort (since August 2005). He is also responsible for various vocal and instrumental ensembles at this school.
Since January 2007 Jan-Geert Heuvelman has been a conductor of the Vocaal Ensemble Rijssen and since April 2011 he has also been a conductor of the Jongerenkoor Sjaloom in Rijssen. Since 2013 he has been a member of the Cultuur Advies Raad (Culture Advisory Council) in Rijssen. He is also active in the Stichting Muziek in de Brusselzaal. |
