Aaron Harp (Baritone)

Born: Ovilla, Texas, USA

The American baritone, Aaron Harp, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance from Ouachita Baptist University (2007); and his Master of Music degree in vocal performance and choral conducting from the University of North Texas (2012), where he studied with Jennifer Lane and Stephen Morscheck and performed extensively with the university's ensembles. In 2017, he relocated to Colorado to pursue a doctorate in choral conducting at the University of Colorado Boulder.

Praised by the Dallas Morning News for his “appealingly rich baritone” and “sensitive singing”, Aaron Harp is building a reputation around the nation as a stylistic performer of early music. Recent solo engagements include performances of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion BWV 244 (Dallas Bach Society, 2014), St. John Passion BWV 245, Mass in B minor BWV 232 (American Bach Soloists Academy, 2012), and Christmas Oratorio BWV 248 (Denton Bach Society, 2012) and several Cantatas, George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, and W.A. Mozart’s Requiem (Frisco Chorale, 2014). He has performed with many noted ensembles, including Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Orpheus Chamber Singers, Bach Society Houston (Director: Rick Erickson), Dallas Bach Society, and Orchestra of New Spain. He has been featured in performances at the Bachfest Leipzig, Boston Early Music Festival, Berkeley Early Music Festival, and American Bach Soloists Festival.

Aaron Harp spent the last five years directing choirs at the secondary level. He was Choir Director (grade 6-12) at Northland Christian School in Houston, Texas (August 2014-May 2017). He currently lives in Broomfield, Colorado, and serves as Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Colorado Boulder (since August 2017).
