Q-Won Han (Tenor)

Born: South Korea

The Korean tenor, Q-Won Han (Korean: 한규원), inaugurated his solo career back in 1998 when he enrolled in the Seoul Arts High School. He was later accepted at the Seoul National University where he worked with Sewon Park. From 2011, he studied at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne with Claudia Kunz-Eisenlohr. While still during his training period he succeeded in emerging successful from a number of competitions, among them the 2009 Korean Schubert Competition, at which he won first prize. The following year he took the third prize as winner of the “Lee Dae-Woong” Competition in Seoul.

Q-Won Han's repertoire ranges from baroque works to compositions from the romantic era. These include the tenor roles in J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) as well as W.A. Mozart's Requiem, Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël and Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah.

Q-Won Han has presented himself in song recitals to audiences in both Korea and Germany. He gathered experience on the operatic stage, in roles like Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata in his native country, along with Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in conjunction with a conservatory project and has sung Belfiore in W.A. Mozart's La finta giardiniera and Orpheus in Charpentier's La descente d’Orphée aux enfers at the theatre in Aachen.

Q-Won Han has been a member of the Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks since 2014.
