Joseph Kyungjin Han (Baritone)

Born: Seoul, Korea

The Korean baritone, Joseph Kyungjin Han, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Seoul National University (2010); and his Master of Music degree in Voice from Carnegie Mellon University: School of Music in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2011-2013). He has sung in many master-classes with Dalton Baldwin, Maria Chiara, and Maestro Maurizio Arena. He was awarded first prize in the advanced division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition (NATS) (Tri-states) in 2011; 1st Place at The National Student Voice Competition (Korea). He has participated in the following summer programs: Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice (October 2005), Ezio Pinza Council for American Singers of Opera, EPCASO (2012); Russian Opera Workshop (July 2014).

Select Roles: Onegin in Eugene Onegin; Escamillo in Georges Bizet's Carmen; Figaro in Il barbiere di siviglia; Count in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro; Top in The tender land. He sang some title roles with professional opera companies in Pittsburgh while he pursued his masters' degree at Carnegie Mellon University. In the past summer (July 2014), he sang the title role in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin at the AVA Russian Opera Workshop. He is currently pursuing his doctoral studies at SUNY Stony Brook, and he will sing the role of Enrico in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor with Stony Brook Opera in 2015 season.

Most recently, Joseph Kyungjin Han performed at SongFest (May-June 2018); Teatro Nuovo (July-August 2018). He is Voice teacher at Music Institute of Long Island in Manhasset, New York; Teaching assistant at Carnegie Mellon University (since September 2011); Recording Engineer at Carnegie Mellon School of Music (since October 2011); Choir Director at Chamsarang Korean Methodist Church in Hempstead, New York (since October 2014). He currently lives in Smithtown, New York.
