The Irish-born tenor, violist and choral conductor, Alistair Hamilton, obtained his Bachelors of Music degree with Honours from Ulster University (1999-2002); his Postgraduate Certificate in Music Education (= PGCE / Masters of Music equivalent) from Durham University, UK (September 2002-June 2003); and his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from California State University in Los Angeles (June 2013-August 2015).
Alistair Hamilton has conducted and produced concerts, tours and events throughout the UK, Asia and the USA. As a violist and singer, he has long been involved with the Apple Hill Center of Chamber Music in Nelson, New Hampshire (since June 2002), and serves on the board of the New York Choral Consortium (August 2016-July 2019).
Alistair Hamilton has also served as Music Director at Whitworth Park School (formerly Spennymoor School) (August 2003-July 2007); Head of Visual & Performing Arts, Examinations, Reporting & Assessment at The Alice Smith School (August 2007-July 2012); Head of Performing Arts at Dwight School in New York (August 2012-July 2019); Founder, Artistic & Executive Director at New York Chamber Choirs (August 2014-July 2019); Head of Creative & Performing Arts of French American International School in San Francisco, California (August 2019-July 2023); Co-Founder & CEO of Music Wallcharts in San Francisco (since March 2020); Founder, Artistic & Executive Director of Cadence for Change in San Francisco (since June 2025). He also composes and arranges for a variety of ensembles. He currently lives in San Francisco, California. |
