The German tenor, Julian Habermann, was a member of the Regensburger Domspatzen (until 2012). He was a junior student at the Würzburg Conservatory, under the tutelage of Christian Elsner. Subsequently, he continued his musical studies at the Frankfurt Conservatory, working with Hedwig Fassbender and Thilo Dahlmann. Additional mentors have included Enza Ferrari, Rudolf Piernay, Axel Bauni, and Helmut Deutsch. The young tenor is a recipient of numerous scholarships. As early as 2012, he was a prize winner in the junior division of the National Singing Competition. In the 2017 edition of the international song competition “Das Lied,” he was the youngest participant and finalist. At the 2018 National Singing Competition in Berlin, he received the Rosenbaum Foundation prize.
While still a conservatory student, Julian Habermann sang several solo roles at the Frankfurt Opera, the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, and the Rheingau Music Festival. As part of the ongoing season, he made his role debut as Oronte in George Frideric Handel’s Alcina at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, under the baton Konrad Junghänel.
Julian Habermann was a guest artist with the famed Tölzer Knabenchor (Boys Choir), singing the arias in performances of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) throughout Germany and Italy. Recently, he performed in an anniversary concert with the Frankfurt Cäcilien Choir as the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), and was tenor soloist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, directed by Philippe Herreweghe.
Julian Habermann has given song recitals in the Goethe Haus Frankfurt, at the Max Reger Festival in Weiden, and at the Hugo Wolf Academy in Stuttgart. In 2018, he participated in a song workshop “Liederwerkstatt” at the Kissinger Summer Festival. As a recitalist, he works closely with collaborative pianist Götz Payer.
Beginning in the 2019/2020 season, Julian Habermann will be an ensemble member of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, where his solo roles will include the Steuermann in Wagner’s Flying Dutchman, and the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244).” |
