The American-born soprano, Michelle Giglio, grew up in Garland, Texas. She had never intended to be a singer. A violin- and piano-performance major at Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was on a path to becoming a violinist when a hand injury at the end of her junior year derailed her career trajectory. While working part-time for American Airlines, she decided to take advantage of free airline miles and apply to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique, in Paris. Not only she received a full scholarship to the school, she landed her first professional gig as a soprano three years later.
In France Michelle Giglio performed under the name "Michelle Norman-Webb" with both the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Philharmonique de France, in addition to frequent live appearances on France Musique (French national classical music station). She is a member of SPEDIDAM in France. Recordings include: Iphigénie en Taurride by Gluck with Les Musiciens du Louvre/ Orchestre Chambre de Grenoble on the Deutsche Grammophon label (Archiv) Marc Minkowski, Conductor. She recorded Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms on the Erato label with the Orchestre Philharmonique de France. She also performed on Celine Dion’s album "S’il suffisait d’aimer" (Sony records), as well as in William Klein’s film Messiah.
