Lavard Friisholm (Conductor, Violin)

Born: January 15, 1912 - Kerteminde, Denmark
Died: August 31, 1999

The Danish violinist and conductor, Lavard Friisholm, was trained in violin with Emil Telmanyi and in conducting with Thomas Jensen.

Lavard Friisholm was especially known as the dynamic conductor of Randers Byorkester (Randers Town Orchestra), where he was conductor and music director from 1951 to 1982. He was also conductor of the Unge Tonekunstnerselskabs Orkester (= DUT; Young Tonekunstnerselskabs Orchestra from 1939 to 1950; and of Collegium Musicum Copenhagen from 1944 to 1978.
