Christoph Eder (Tenor)

Born: May 22, 1992 - Hamburg, Germany

The German tenor, Christoph Eder, grew up in Hamburg and spent his childhood and youth listening to and playing music. After high-school, he started studying to become an orchestra conductor but soon shifted to musicology, studying in Hamburg and later at the Humboldt-Universität in Berlin (2015-2017). In Berlin, he was able to gain experience working as intern in the dramaturgy department of the Deutsche Oper (March-May 2016) and as marketing assistant at the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (November 2017-February 2019).

Tonal beauty, vocal precision and an infectious passion for making music - with these qualities the young tenor Christoph Eder knows how to fascinate his audience. He is skilled and successful as a passionate ensemble singer and committed soloist in the concert repertoire. After discovering his talent as a singer in various youth choirs parallel to his musicology studies in Berlin, he quickly found his way to the German national youth choir from 2015 where he was introduced to ensemble singing at a professional level. To date, he has worked with outstanding ensembles such as the Gaechinger Cantorey (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Vocalconsort Berlin (November 2019-May 2020), LauschWerk, and sung under the baton of renowned conductors such as Kent Nagano, Kyrill Petrenko and Thomas Hengelbrock.

Christoph Eder has been continuously studying vocal technique since 2016 - first with Snezana Brzakovic and since 2020 with Professor Jörn Dopfer (Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg), who has guided him to this day. He received further important impulses in master-classes with Professor Hans-Christoph Rademann and Professor Scot Weir (in 2022-2023) and in the first choral academy of Balthasar-Neumann-Chor and the Schola program of the Rundfunkchor Berlin (both in 2022). As a soloist he performed, among others, in the central church of Saint Michael in Hamburg, on tour with the Deutscher Ärztchor and in the Gethsemanekirche in Berlin. He uses his background in musicology to develop differentiated interpretations that unite emotional intensity and analytical insight. in September 2020, he joined the Ensemble Resonanz as assistant in communication and sales. He currently lives in Hamburg, Germany.
