Riccardo Doni (Harpsichord, Conductor)

Born: July 21, 1965 - Milano, Italy

The Italian harpsichortdist and conductor, Riccardo Doni, graduated in organ and organ composition at the Arrigo Boito Conservatory of Music of Parma, under the guidance of Lorenzo Ghielmi. He later studied organ and harpsichord in the class of Jean-Claude Zehnder at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.

Riccardo Doni has conducted the Nuova Polifonica Ambrosiana, I Madrigalisti Ambrosiani, I Cameristi della Scala, Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala, I Solisti di Pavia, and the Accademia Bizantina (Director: Ottavio Dantone). Since 1994 he has been a permanent collaborator of the prestigious ensemble Il Giardino Armonico (Director: Giovanni Antonini) in Milano, as harpsichordist and organist. He is harpsichordist of the Imaginarium ensemble created in 2002 by the violinist Enrico Onofri, and since 2008 he has been playing with the violinist Giuliano Carmignola, with whom he has given concerts in some important Italian and European cities. Since 2010 he has been music director of the Accademia dell'Annunciata.

Riccardo Doni has recorded for Decca, Teldec, Alpha, Arcana, Zig Zag Territoires, Naïve, Opus 111, Passacaille, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Supraphon, Amadeus, Nichion and Musica Viva. He collaborated with violinist Giuliano Carmignola on the 2017 album "Un Italia a Londra" on Musica Viva, and recorded "Melancholia" with baritone Andrea Mastroni, released in 2018 on the same label.

Riccardo Doni teaches at the music conservatories in Milan and Ferrara.
