Jennifer Courcier (Soprano)

Born: January 25, 1988 - Paris, France

The French soprano, Jennifer Courcier, began her early training with harp and dance studies. She sang at 12 as a chorister and soloist in the Maîtrise des Hauts-de-Seine. She participated in projects at the Opéra Bastille, Capitol de Toulouse, Opéra National du Rhin, and Lille (Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart, Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande by Debussy, Flora in The Turn of the Screw by Benjamin Britten). For the past 8 years, she has been taking lessons with the bass Daniel Ottevaere, notably at the Conservatoire de Valenciennes, where she obtained a First Prize in 2015 and at the Ecole Normale de Paris where she also studied with Mireille Laroche. In 2013-2014, she was a resident of Le Centre National d'Insertion Professionnelle des Artistes Lyriques (CNIPAL) in Marseille, and in 2014 joined the roster of Opera Fuoco (Director: David Stern). She also attended master-classes with Patricia Petibon, Véronique Gens, Jeff Cohen, David Charles Abell and Stuart Seide. Winner of the Marmandes, Gordes and Bellan competitions, she won the Enesco Grand Prix at the Enesco 2016 competition.

Jennifer Courcier has worked with conductors such as Louis Langre, Emilio Pomarico, Ariane Matiakh, Franck Ollu, David Stern, William Christie, Thomas Rösner, Benjamin Pioneer, Jerome Pillement, Laurent Campellone or Seiji Ozawa. Since 2011, she has sung Abra in Juditha triumphans by Antonio Vivaldi, Constance in Dialogues des Carmélite by Francis Poulenc, Gabrielle in La Vie Parisienne by Offenbach, Fiordiligi in Cosi Fanciulli by Nicolas Bacri, Papagena in Die Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart, Belinda in Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell, Cupid IN Orphée aux enfers by Offenbach, Elpina in Damon by Georg Philipp Telemann; and this in major French theaters such as the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris, Opéra de Nantes, Opéra de Nancy and abroad (China, India, Germany, etc.). She also sings from time to time with Les Arts Florissants (Director: William Christie).

In 2017, Jennifer Courcier was Miss Ellen in Lakmé by Delibes at the Opéra de Tours (January 2017), Countess Stasi in Princess Czardas by Kálman in Toulouse (February-March 2017) and Mérignac and Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande by Debussy at the Théâtre des Champs Élysées (May 2017). She took part in the Académie du Festival d'Aix en Provence for the creation of Pinocchio by Boesmans (June-July 2017), and sang at the Opéra de Lille the female title role in Der Zwerg by Zemlinsky (November 2017; reprised at the Opéra de Rennes in March 2018); then at the Opéra de Nancy for Hänsel und Gretel de Engelbert Humperdinck (December 2017). This year (2018), she sings Sophie in Werther by Massenet at the Opéra National du Rhin, Lady Lucy in Monsieur Beaucaire by André Messager at the Théâtre de l'Odéon in Marseille (March 2018), and Anna in Nabucco by Verdi at the Opéra de Lille (June 2018). She currently lives in Paris, France.
