Nathaniel Catasca (Tenor)

Born: September 29, 1994 - Sandia Park (Albuquerque), New Mexico, USA

The American tenor, Nathaniel Catasca, studied in Santa Fe Opera Young Voices Apprentice Program (2010-2013). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Oklahoma (2013-2017); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance & Literature from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester (20172019), under the study of Robert Swensen. At Oklahoma, he debuted as Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale in 2017. At Eastman, he performed the role of Tenor I in Ricky Ian Gordon's The Tibetan Book of the Dead and took 2nd place in the Friends of Eastman Opera Vocal Competition.

Professionally, Nathaniel Catasca was a Summer Concert Residency Artist for the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (June-July 2019), and a young artist at Hawaii Opera Theatre (September-November 2019), singing the role of Spoletta in Puccini's Tosca. He returned to Hawaii in 2020 for a tour of Rossini's Cinderella for young audiences (January-March 2020) and has also served as a young artist at Finger Lakes Opera Canandaigua (city), New York and his first production of Salome (May-August 2020). He then was Baumgartner Studio Artist at Florentine Opera Company (July 2020-May 2021); Tomita Young Artist at Finger Lakes Opera (July-August 2021); Tenor Baumgartner Studio Artist at Florentine Opera Company (September 2021-April 2022; roles including Matteo Borsa in Rigoletto, Le Comte Barigoule in Viardot’s Cendrillon, Arithmetique and La Rainette in L’enfant et les sortilèges, understudying Rodolfo in La Bohème, and The Witch in a children’s tour production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel and Gretel); Tenor Apprentice Artist at Central City Opera in Central City, Colorado (May-July 2022; Performances of Dr. Blind in Die Fledermaus along with various concerts and performances); Hattie Mae Lesley Tenor Resident Artist at Fort Worth Opera (since September 2022).
