The American tenor, Colin Thomas Campbell, obtained both his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Instruction (2009-2014) and his Bachelor of Science degree (2009-2014) in Mathematics from Southern Oregon University. He also earned a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Performance Studies Certificate from Boston Conservatory at Berklee (September 2015-May 2017) under the tutelage of Kevin Wilson. During the summer of 2018, he was a Young Artist with Seagle Music Colony, where he made his role debut as the title role in Leonard Bernstein's Candide.
Known for his “powerful tenor voice and his scruff” (The Theatre Times), Colin Campbell has performed with Odyssey Opera, Handel & Haydn Society, MassOpera, Boston Modern Orchestra Project (since January 2019), Seagle Music Colony (2017-2018), The Boston Conservatory, Newburyport Choral Society, OperaWorks, Southern Oregon University, Brava! Opera Theater, Rogue Opera, Britt International Festival, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, Oregon Bach Festival, and for the House of Representatives in Oregon.
Most recently, Colin Campbell e was seen across many of the North-East’s premiere stages (Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, etc.) with Handel & Haydn Society and in Odyssey Opera’s East Coast Premiere of Tobias Picker’s opera, Awakenings. His recent role and company debuts include Tito in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito with the Trentino Music Festival, in Mezzano, Italy. Just before, as Count Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Raylynmor Opera and also Alfred in Die Fledermaus with MassOpera where Theatre Times said his “comedic timing was perfect.” Earlier highlights include, his company debut with Boston Modern Orchestra Project as Third Herald in the Boston premiere of Haroun and the Sea of Stories.
Other role credits include Osric in the world premiere of Herschel Garfein's Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Oronte in George Frideric Handel's Alcina, Ito in Jerry Herman's Mame, Monsieur Triquet in Eugene Onegin, Howard Boucher in Dead Man Walking, Spärlich in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Monostatos in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Don Curzio in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Frederic in Pirates of Penzance. Partial roles include Jaquino in L.v. Beethoven's Fidelio, Tonio in La fille du Régiment, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Chevalier Des Grieux in Manon, and Ernesto in Don Pasquale. He is currently based in a Boston. |
