Paul Busselberg (Baritone, Choral Conductor)

Born: 1969 - USA

The American baritone, choral conductor, composer and music pedagogogue, Paul Fredrick Busselberg, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Brigham Young University (1988-1995); his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Literature with Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York (1995-1997); and his Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) IN Music from Rice University: Shepherd School of Music in Houston, Texas (2002-2007).

A classically trained baritone, Paul Busselberg has sung with the Houston Chamber Choir, Houston Ballet Orchestra, Bach Society Houston, Mercury Baroque, Ars Lyrica, Musiqa, and Col Canto; national engagements include the Santa Fe Opera, Florentine Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Skylight Opera Theater, Buffalo Philharmonic, Southwestern Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Rockford (Illinois) Bach Chamber Choir and Orchestra, and Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra.

Paul Busselberg served as Adjunct Professor of Voice at University of Wisconsin - Whitewater (1998-2002). He was director of choral activities and head of the voice area at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas (2005-2017), where he led four choirs, including Men's and Women's Choruses, College Chorale, and Concert Choir, a college-community choir. Since 2017, he is a member of the music faculty at Brigham Young University-Idaho; He is also founder and artistic director of CONSONO Houston. He is in demand throughout the Southeast Texas region as a guest conductor, clinician, and adjudicator with festivals, church choirs, and contests.

Many of his compositions are written for these ensembles, and his work has been performed at regional and national choral festivals.

Recent recordings include Robert Cundick's The Redeemer with Brigham Young University, J.S. Bach's cantata BWV 39 (Brich dem Hungrigen dein Brot) with the Bach Society Houston, and Karim Al-Zand's Leila and Tagoriana (Albany Records).
