Elena Branno (Oboe)

Born: July 3, 1999 - Naples (Napoli), Italy

The Italian oboist, Elena Branno, graduated with top marks and honors in modern oboe at the “L. Perosi” Conservatory in Campobasso. She continued her studies in Freiburg at the Musikhochschule Freiburg under the guidance of Lucas Macías Navarro and Christoph Hartmann, graduating with full marks in 2023. At the same time, she developed an interest in early music and historical oboes, taking Baroque oboe lessons with Ann-Kathrin Brüggemann.

Since 2023, , Elena Branno has continued her studies in historical oboe at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Katharina Arfken. In 2024, she was also a student of the Accademia Musicale Chigiana, attending the Masterclass in Baroque and Classical oboe with Alfredo Bernardini. In the same year, she was awarded a scholarship from the Zamus Festival (Early Music Festival of Cologne), where she performed alongside oboist Clara Blessing and violinist Evgeny Sviridov. In previous years, she has won several competitions such as the “Rotary Club Teramo,” the international competition “Sante Centurione” in Chieti, and the “Grand Pride Virtuoso Competition,” performing at the awards ceremony held at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

She worked on the modern revision of the publication “Tre pezzi per oboe” by composer Nestore Caggiano (Edizione ARMELIN – PADOVA), which includes a romance for oboe and piano, a duet for oboe and English horn, and a bravura caprice for solo oboe. She has performed in Switzerland, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain, collaborating with orchestras such as Kammerorchester Basel (Director: Julia Schröder), La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Director: Andrea Marcon), Bremer Barockorchester (since November 2024; Director: Néstor Fabián Cortés Garzón), Bach Collegium Freiburg (since June 2023; Director: Simone Schermi), European Baroque Orchestra, and J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).

Elena Branno is currently (since September 2023) completing a degree in pedagogy at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis under the guidance of the renowned oboist, Antoine Toruncyk.
