The English soprano, Anastasia Bevan, was awarded a scholarship to study for her Masters at the Royal Northern College of Music (2020-2022; (Masked Vocal Studies)). She studied for a master’s degree with Mary Plazas. She won the Dame Eva Turner award in 2020 and 2021 and was first prize winner of the Frederic Cox Competition at RNCM (2021), and in her final year played the Countess in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro which critics described as 'having happened'. She is generously supported by the A & N Kendall Award. Before turning to music full-time, she studied Philosophy at the University of East Anglia and was a professional chef for eight years.
Anastasia Bevan has performed in Jonathan Dove’s Flight (Tina) and Janáček's The Cunning Little Vixen (Grasshopper and Jay) for RNCM Opera. Anastasia also sings regularly with sixteen of her cousins as the Bevan Family Consort. Their debut album (2023) and Christmas album (2024) conducted by Graham Ross, are out now with Signum Records and a third is due for release in 2025. Her performance history varies from J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 at Sydney Opera House, First Bridesmaid in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro at the Cadogan Hall with the Mozartists, as well as Niece 2 in Benjamin Britten's Peter Grimes at Endellion Festival.
Anastasia Bevan spent the best part of 2023 touring the world as the principal tubular soprano with Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells 50th Anniversary show. Concerts in December 2024 included George Frideric Handel's Neun Deutsche Arien and Schubert’s Shepherd on the Rock with Julian Bliss at the Highgate International Chamber Music Festival, as well as solos in G.F. Handel's Messiah at the Sheldonian, Oxford with the London Mozart Players and the Oxford Bach Choir. She will also join Garsington Opera for their 2025 season as an Alvarez Young Artist. She now lives in Oxfordshire with her dashing new husband Peter (also Anastasia) and their beautiful smokehouse barbecue. |
