Travis Benoit (Tenor)

Born: May 19, 1996 - Worcester, Massachusetts, USA

The American tenor, Travis Benoit, obtained his Bachelor o Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Gordon College (August 2014-June 2018); and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music (August 2018-June 2020). In 2017, he was awarded first prize in the college vocal division of the Worcester Schubertiade (April 2018-April 2019), and was a concerto competition winner at Gordon College, where he performed a program of W.A. Mozart concert arias with the Gordon College Symphony Orchestra. His commitment to vocal excellence has led to master-class appearances with esteemed musicians such as Martin Katz (2023), Roger Vignoles (2023), and Thomas Hampson (2019). Currently, he studies Choral Conducting at the Boston University College of Fine Arts (since May 2024; expected graduation: May 2024).

Since March 2018, Travis Benoit is rapidly establishing himself as a compelling artist in both operatic and concert repertoire. He has appeared in a wide range of performances across the USA and Europe, showcasing his versatility and expressive artistry.

Recent highlights include a recital of Die Schöne Müllerin at Merkin Hall in New York City (2025), tenor soloist with Music Worcester in their production of George Frideric Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Charpentier’s Te Deum, as well as with Worcester Master Chorus in J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D major BWV 243 in Barcelona, Spain. He has also performed the tenor solos in G.F. Handel's Messiah with both Music Worcester and CONCORA, and portrayed Uriel in Haydn’s The Creation with The Providence Singers. Additionally, he gave a featured recital of Gerald Finzi’s A Young Man’s Exhortation with pianist Mark Mummert at the BrickBox Theater of The Hanover Theatre in Worcester.

Operatic roles include Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Nahant Music Festival, where he was a vocal apprentice (June-July 2018); Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with Valley Light Opera Company (June-July 2017); Gastone in Verdi’s La Traviata with the Manhattan School of Music Opera Repertoire Ensemble; and Dottore Sinisgalli in I due timidi on MSM’s mainstage. Travis Benoit was also Singer/Actor at Greater Worcester Opera (November 2020-September 2022). An advocate for new music, he was featured as the Evangelist in The Passion According to Saint Luke, a newly composed oratorio by William David Cooper.

Travis Benoit is currently a member of several distinguished ensembles, including the Marsh Chapel Choir (Director: Scott Allen Jarrett), EnsembleNYC (since January 2019), CONCORA Connecticut Choral Artists (since March 2022; Director: Richard Coffey), Vox Futura (since September 2021), and the Cor Unum Singers of the Magnificat Sacred Music Institute (October 2021-November 2023), Providence Singers (Choral Scholar: November 2021-July 2024). He has also been Cantor/ Sectional leader at Intercession Church in New York City (August 2018-March 2020); Cantor at Immaculate Conception Church Parish in Worcester (January 2012-August 2022); Choral Director Trivium School in Lancaster, Massachusetts (October 2021-June 2023); Choral Ensemble Assistant at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts (August 2022-June 2023); Highschool Honors Chorus: Tenor Ensemble Assistant at Rhode Island Children's Chorus in Providence (January 2023-April 2024); Middle School and Upper School Choral Director at Worcester Academy (June 2023-June 2024); Vocal Instructor, Artist in Residence at Wachusett Regional School District (October 2020-August 2024); Cantor at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Worcester (since November 2020).

Travis Benoit recently begin teaching a course at Harvard University designed to empower singers with the skills to develop and understand the human voice and the act of singing (since August 2025). He is also an Assistant Choir Director with Boston Children’s Chorus (since August 2024) and works as adjunct vocal faculty with The Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts (since September 2022) and the Hannover Theater (since March 2024). He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
