Jordan Baldwin (Tenor, Counter-tenor)

Born: March 28, ____ - St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada

The Canadian tenor and counter-tenor, Jordan Baldwin, was born in St. Thomas, Ontario, and raised in London, Ontario. studied vocal performance at Western University in London, Ontario with John Mac Master and Chirstiane Riel (2011-2015). He graduated with the Board of Governors and Deral Johnson Music Awards in 2015. He was the Eberhard Scholar and Tenor Soloist for First St. Andrew’s United Church in London, Ontario until moving to Toronto in 2019. Additionally, he has participated in workshops with Tafelmusik, the Canadian Renaissance Music Summer School and a music intensive in historically informed performance techniques, hosted by Dame Emma Kirkby and Robert Toft, at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. He began to explore his counter-tenor range during the pandemic. He completed his Advanced Certificate in Performance at the University of Toronto in 2021, and recently (2025) completed his Master of Music degree in Historical Performance at the University of Toronto under the guidance of Jean MacPhail and Daniel Taylor. His studies were supported through the Dame Emma Kirkby and Suzie Leblanc Graduate Scholarship. In 2023, he was a recipient of the France-Canada Cultural Exchange Award which allowed him to spend six weeks in Europe at several training programs including; Academie Internationale de Musique de Paris and the Opera Connections workshop in Burgundy facilitated by Jeannette Aster. He was also a finalist in the National Capital Opera Competition in Ottawa, where he received the third prize (October 2023).

Jordan Baldwin has always had a strong affinity for early music. During his undergraduate degree, he was part of the twelve-voice early music group Thames Scholars. He is an avid choral singer, was a member of Toronto Chamber Choir (2024-2025) and currently singing in several choirs throughout Toronto, including: That Choir, Kammerchor London, Arcady, Brott Festival Choir, Saint James Cathedral Choir, Trinity Chapel Choir, and the Toronto Oratory, in addition to being a member of the Viol Consort, Collegium Musicum and Schola Cantorum at the University of Toronto Faculty of Music. He enjoys playing the violin and song writing in his spare time. When not making music he is flying the friendly skies working for WestJet or training for his next triathlon. He is currently residing in Toronto.
