The American soprano, Jennifer Ashworth, is a native of Southern California, but moved to the Bay Area to attend the University of California, Berkeley in 1992 for her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. She received her Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Holy Names College.
Jennifer Ashworth has been active as a soloist with numerous choral groups, including Favolare, Cantata Collective, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra & Chorale (Directors: Nicholas McGegan/Richard Egarr), Schola Adventus, San Francisco Chamber Singers, VOCI, and the University of California, Berkeley, Chamber Chorus, as well as singing with local opera companies including the Lamplighters, Berkeley Opera, Teatro Bacchino, Pocket Opera, Golden Gate Opera, and the San Francisco Opera Guild. She was the soprano soloist for our Fall 2007 performance of Francis Poulenc's Gloria. She can be heard on the Lamplighters Music Theater’s recordings of HMS Pinafore, The Grand Duke, and Princess Ida. She is making her orchestral conducting debut with Lamplighters in their spring show, Patience.
2026 marks 23 years as a teaching artist for the San Francisco Opera Guild where she is co-creator of the Guild’s program "Sing a Story." She is also the co-founder of Presto! Interactive Opera, which performs children’s Christmas shows for sold-out crowds every year at Grace Cathedral. She is looking forward to singing in the Berkeley Early Music Festival Fringe Concerts with Favolare in June. |
