Ismael Arróniz (Bass)

Born: León, Spain

The Spanish bass, Ismael Arróniz, began his musical studies in his native city of León, Spain. In 1996 he began his vocal studies with the Cuban Soprano Emelina López. He went on to pursue his studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis (Class of 2010) and made his opera debut in the role of Ercole in L'Ercole amante by Francesco Cavalli in Bourg-en-Bresse (France). He pursued further vocal studies with Eric Halvfarson, Elena Obraztsova, Andreas Scholl and Gerd Türk among others.

Ismael Arróniz has performed in such venues as the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Opéra de Vichy, Palau de la Música Catalana de Barcelona, Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Tonhalle in Zürich, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Stadtcasino in Basel, Teatro Real in Madrid, Grand Théâtre de Reims, Theater Görlitz, Opèra de Toulon, Theater-Basel, Kulturcasino Bern, Teatro Romea in Murcia, Opéra de Besançon and Théâtre de Bourg-en-Bresse.

Ismael Arróniz is a sought-after soloist for the sacred and secular works of C. Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann, J. Haydn, W.A. Mozart, L.v. Beethoven, F. Schubert, Franz Liszt, etc.Orchestras and ensembles with which he has sung include the Venice Baroque Orchestra (Director: Andrea Marcon), La Cetra Barockorchester Basel (Director: Andrea Marcon), Capriccio Barockorchester Basel, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Basler Vokalsolisten, Basler Madrigalisten (Director: Fritz Näf), Musica Fiorita (Director: Daniela Dolci), Cappella Murensis, Ensemble Corund, Ensemble Elyma, Münchner Rundfunkorchester, Orquesta Ciudad de Granada and the Orquesta Académica de Madrid. He has sung with such conductors as Ljubka Biagioni, Jesús López-Cobos, David Zinman, Johannes Strobl, Andrea Marcon, Gabriel Garrido, David de la Calle, Pedro Halfter, Eduardo López Banzo. to name a few. He currently lives in Basel, Switzerland.
