Residentie Kamerkoor (Chamber Choir)

Founded: 1977 - Holland

The Residentie Kamerkoor was founded in 1977. Under its conductor and musical director Gerard Akkerhuis it soon developed a broad repertoire covering several historic style periods, performing works by: J.S. Bach, Haydn, W.A. Mozart, Schubert, Johannes Brahms, Josef Rheinberger, Rossini, Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, Francis Poulenc, Hendrik Andriessen, Langlais, De Klerk and others. Bach's works are essential. Each season the Residentie Kamerkoor performs several Bach cantatas during cantata services at the Kloosterkerk at the Lange Voorhout, The Hague. Performances of the Residentie Kamerkoor have been received particularly well both at home and abroad. The vocal ensemble consists of around thirty singers combining their vocal training with a professional approach. It has toured Belgium, France and Spain.
