Valentin Triller (Hymn-Writer, Composer)

Born: 1493 -Guhrau, Silesia
Died: 1573 - Nimptsch, Silesia (now (now Niemcza, Poland)

Valentin Triller was a German pastor and author and composer of hymns. He was pastor in Oberpantenau (now Ratajno) at Nimptsch (now Niemcza) in Silesia. He published in 1555 in Wroclaw the Schlesisch Singebüchlein (Silesian song book), in which he included medieval songs in addition to own texts.

From Valentin Triller comes: The melody of the hymn Den die Hirten lobeten sehre (Quem pastores laudavere) (EG 29); the melody and first stanza of Wir wollen fröhlich singen Gott (EG 167), as well as the additional stanza Es kam ein Engel hell und klar to Martin Luther's Christmas song Vom Himmel hoch, da komm ich her and the melody Kommt und laßt uns Christum ehren.
