Janneke Vis (Contralto)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch contralto, Janneke Spronk-Vis, studied Classical Singing with Rita Dams at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag and completed her studies in 2012. After her graduation, she was coached and attended master-classes with Maurice Lammerts van Bueren and Sasja Hunnego, among others.

Janneke Vis is an alto with a unique warm, but clear sound. She can regularly be heard as a soloist in oratorio works such as J.S. Bach's St Matthew Passion (BWV 244), W.A. Mozart's Requiem, George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. She is loved for her honest interpretations. Her passion for transferring the text is also expressed in Lieder recitals, in which she sings songs from Gregorian chant, through Baroque and romanticism, to modern. In 2015, she was soloist with the chamber choir Ad Parnassum for the CD recordings of the impressive De trein naar Sobibor by Matthieu Dijker.

In addition to solo work, Janneke Vis is also active in various ensembles, such as the Groot Omroepkoor (Director: Klaas Stok/Benjamin Goodson). She started working with this prestigious choir immediately after her studies. She is regularly performs with them on the stage of the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Tivoli Vredenburg, and can be heard on Radio 4. She was a member EVA Vocaal Ensemble, an a capella ensemble consisting of six female singers (2017-end of 2018/start of 2019). She sang with this ensemble the lowest parts and is the stable foundation on which the others can build. From 2019 to 2021, she sang with the successful women's ensemble Wishful Singing. With this ensemble she performed a very varied repertoire, often in theatrical settings, and she was heard on TV and radio.
