Daniël Vecht (Baritone)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch baritone, Daniël Vecht, studied classical singing with Maarten Koningsberger in Amsterdam and continued his musical education with Frans Fiselier and Meinard Kraak. He attended several master-classes: among others with Marcel Reijans and Peter Kooy. In addition, he attended acting lessons with Helmert Woudenberg. He is currently being coached by Hanneke de Wit.

As a soloist Daniël Vecht can be heard regularly in the Passions and cantatas by J.S. Bach. He soloed in oratorios by, among others, by Gabriel Fauré, J. Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, J. Stainer and W.A. Mozart and worked with conductors such as Béni Csillag, Gijs Leenaars and Jos Vermunt. He sang frequently as a soloist in the performances of the contemporary composer Merlijn Twaalfhoven.

Daniël Vecht performed the role of Edgar in the innovative opera Axis of the collective Vliegwiel with an extensive national theater tour. In addition, he sang with several companies the role of Aeneas in the opera Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell. He has performed with his regular companions Jaap Kooi and Jeroen Sarphati Lieder recitals. He wrote and played the theater program "Schubert en Shaffy". The performance was received with praise. Many gigs followed: among others on Radio 4, the Emmy Verhey Festival and Felix Meritis Amsterdam.

In addition to his singing education, Daniël Vecht studied Dutch Language and Literature at the Universiteit van Amsterdam. He directs the stage production at the Vossius Gymnasium in Amsterdam every year.
