Bernhard Scheffel (Tenor)

Born: June 28, ____ - Heidenheim an der Brenz, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German tenor, Bernhard Scheffel, studied at Freie Waldorfschule Uhlandshöhe in Heidenheim (Class of 1978). He studied singing at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart, and in Hamburg and Basel.

Bernhard Scheffel now works as a freelancer and appears as a soloist in a wide variety of oratorios from Monteverdi to Penderecki. A focus of his work is the large Evangelist parts of the oratorios by J.S. Bach and other Baroque composers. As a member of the vocal soloist quartet consonanz à 4 (since September 2018), he devotes himself primarily to a cappella music of the 19th and 20th centuries. He is also a member of Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max), Boston Early Music Festival Chorus, Deutscher Kammerchor, VokalEnsemble Köln (Director: Max Ciolek), Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius). He also works at Theater Bremen (since September 2018), and currently lives in Bremen, Germany.
