Yuhichi Sakai (Baritone)

Born: Toyama, Toyama

The Japanese baritone Yuhichi [Yuh-ichi] Sakai, graduated in 2011 from Tokyo National University of the Arts with a degree in Music. He studied Vocal performance and Opera at Nikikai Opera Institute in Shibuya, Tokyo (2011-2013). He worked as a freelance singer in Japan from 2013-2015, during which time he undertook

various solo engagements of early music repertoires.

Since embarking upon the Early Music Performance Course (Voice) at the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatoire) in The Hague in 2015, Yuichi Sakai has studied with Rita Dams, Jill Feldman, Peter Kooy, Robin Blaze, Pascal Bertin and has participated in several productions with Michael Chance. He has also performed sacred repertoires directed by Charles Toet, Mike Fentross, Guy van Waas, JanJoost van Elburg, Fabio Bonizzoni and Patrick Ayrton. He graduated from the Royal Conservatoire in 2019, currently lives in The Hague and is a member of Heart of Language since July 2019.
