The German baritone, vocal coach and performing artist, Lorenz Rommelspacher, grew up in a musical home and has been surrounded by music his entire life. During his childhood years he was trained in singing, musical theory and several instruments such as the recorder, piano, harpsichord, French horn and oboe. After graduating from high school in 2008, he entered the Saarbrücken Conservatory of Music as an oboist in the studio of Professor Armin Aussem and in 2011 decided to pursue singing, which had always played an important role in his musical life. He was accepted into the studio of acclaimed Baroque and contemporary music specialist Professor Kai Wessel at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. After graduating in 2015, he went on to study with award-winning singer and vocal pedagogue Professor Konrad Jarnot at the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf where he went on to graduate in September 2017.
During his years of study in Saarbrücken, Cologne and Düsseldorf, Lorenz Rommelspacher has had the chance to learn from and perform with many great and influential musicians who helped me to refine my technique, musicianship and expression, as well as growing as an artist and person. He hold a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln and a Master of Music degree in Oratorio and Art Song from the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf.
Lorenz Rommelspacher is a member of Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering). In March 2014, he sang J.S. Bach's solo cantatas with Gli Allori Felicy at Ursulinenkirche in Köln. Whilst he still sings in various classical music concerts, he sees his main artistic work in interdisciplinary projects, thereby merging classical music with other art forms. For that reason he founded the ørfeus kollaborativ: a group of young artists of various backgrounds each bringing their very own views and experiences to the table and thus creating a hub of creativity for new ideas to emerge which can then be crafted into art projects, the first of which premiered in September 2017.
Lorenz Rommelspacher thinks sharing knowledge is an obligation, especially given he has benefited from the influence of so many great teachers and artists over many years (and still does). He has mainly been voice teaching in and around Cologne and Düsseldorf, training a variety of students from choristers to voice therapists and a group of very talented young church musicians. Having explored the possibilities of the internet in regard to musical education over the past couple of months, he has come to appreciate more and more the tremendous gift it provides, giving the possibility to learn and benefit from teachers all over the world at the click of a mouse. He currently lives in Leipzig, Germany. |
