Deanna Ray Eberhart (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Kansas City, Missouri, USA

Te American mezzo-soprano and singer-songwriter, Deanna Ray Eberhart Von Fange, began her artistic endeavors with a book of poetry titled "Awakening" when she was 11 years old. Her love of poetry quickly evolved into a love of singer-songwriting, leading to the creation of her debut album, "Summerland", released in 2015. Shortly after "Summerland"'s release, she began studying classical voice. This journey took her out of Kansas City to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), where she studied with Dr. Jean McDonald. During her time at UNI, Deanna continued playing her original music, and recorded an album titled "Calling Out to Orpheus", available on SoundCloud. Recording was done at home and in a local church during the early months of the pandemic, and utilized over seven different instruments, all played and recorded live by Deanna. In 2021, she began pursuing a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance at the University of Kansas, under the tutelage of legendary mezzo-soprano Joyce Castle. She recently performed her degree recital with the illustrious pianist Dr. Tatiana Tessman, and will be completing her studies in 2024 with Dr. Genaro Mendez.

Since the Fall of 2022, Deanna Ray Eberhart a has had the great pleasure and honor of serving as an Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City (LOKC). While at LOKC, she has worked as a chorister in Georges Bizet's Carmen, La Traviata, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and an adaptation of Steven King’s acclaimed novel, The Shining. Upcoming performances with LOKC include productions of Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci (Chorus), The Sound of Music (Chorus), and Charles Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, in which she will be making her professional debut in a named role as Gertrude, Juliet's nurse.

When not making music, Deanna Ray Eberhart is an avid gardener, hiker, and kayaker. She enjoys finding beauty in the natural world, which she uses to inspire and enrich her craft. She enjoys being part of the music ministry and community at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Midtown KC, and lives in the area with her husband Ian, two cats, and three frogs.
