Geert Koskamp (Tenor, Counter-tenor)

Born: August 4, ____ - Varsseveld, The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor/counter-tenor, Geert Koskamp, began his musical education began as an organist and clarinetist. He obtained his Master of Science degree in Science and Policy from Utrecht University (1994-1999). He sang for many years as a tenor in various companies and as a soloist in the Netherlands, England and Germany. For example, he sang the tenor part in Stainer's Crucifiction, the Evangelist part G.F. Handel's Brockes Passion, HWV 48 and Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. He takes lessons with Jan Willem Westerhuis and Coen Honig and took master-classes with Sarah Walker, Marco Beasley, Evelyn Tubb and Francis van Broekhuizen, among others.

Since 2016, Geert Koskamp has focused on singing as a counter-tenor and sings alto parts. He has sung with the Dutch Baroque Vocal Consort and Berliner Singakademie and he sings with Slotkoor, Camerata Oude Kerk and Chordiality. His preference is for early music, contemporary music and opera. As a soloist he has performed parts of Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, various roles in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Tobias in Sweeney Todd. He currently lives in The Hague, the Netherlands.
