Andrejus Kalinovas (Tenor)

Born: Lithuania

The Lithuanian tenor, Andrejus Kalinovas, first graduated from the Rokiskis College as an organist. He then studied singing at the Academy of Music and Theater, Vilnius with Professor Eduardas Kaniava. From 2006 to 2009, he continued his studies in the field of "Music Dramatic Representation" with Professors Kammersänger Gottfried Hornik, Christian Pöppelreiter and Professor Wolfgang Schmid at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst, Graz.

From 2006 to 2009, Andrejus Kalinovas sang the roles of Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Evangelist in Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte and Demon in Henze's L'upupa. In addition to his studies, he completed various academies and master-classes, including at the Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart under Helmuth Rilling. In 2004 he won the International Competition L. Alexandrovskaya in Minsk, in 2005 2nd Prize and Special Prize for Best Baroque Arias Interpretation at the International Chamber Music Competition, Vilnius.

From 2005 to 2010, Andrejus Kalinovas was engaged at the Music Theater Klaipeda (Lithuania). There he sang in Gonsalve M. Ravel's L'heure d'Espagnole, Orfeo in Monteverdi's Orfeo, Count in Rossini's Barber of Seville, Alfred in Strauss's Fledermaus. As a guest he worked at the Wiener Kammeroper. He is also a sought-after concert and oratorio singer and performs in early music festivals, including Styriarte Festival in Graz, Steglitzer Tage für Alte Musik in Berlin, Bancchetto Musicale in Vilnius, Lithuania, Festival for Early Music in Varazdin, Croatia, debut at Bachkantaten-Zyklus at the Grazer Dom under the direction of Domkapellmeister J.M. Döller; and tenor solo in W.A. Mozart's Requiem ... soloist in Bruckner's Te Deum with H. Bolterauer and F. Hasselwander; and the main role in Siavosh Banihashemi's opera Vogelgespräche. He is a member of Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann).
