Karl-Heinz Halder (Trumpet)

Born: Leutershausen (Rhein-Neckar-Kreis), Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German trumpeter, Karl-Heinz Halder, studied trumpet at the Berlin College of Music and in Paris with Pierre Thibaud.

After his first engagement with the Radio- Sinfonieorchester Berlin (today: Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin), Karl-Heinz Halder went as solo trumpet to the Orchestra of the Mannheim Nationaltheater, and finally to the same position in the SWR Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart. He was also a member of Bach-Collegium Stuttgart (Director: Helmuth Rilling).

A focus of his work is historical performance practice. Thus he is first trumpet of the renowned Cappella Coloniensis, where he collaborates with specialists for Baroque music such as Joshua Rifkin, Reinhard Goebel, and Sigiswald Kuijken. Moreover, he has founded various ensembles in order to perform the very diversely orchestrated chamber and ensemble music of the 17th and 18th centuries. For this same reason, he founded the music publishing company Edipason in 2003, whereby a main concern is the instrumental and choral music of the composer Pavel Josef Vejvanovsky. In 2008, he participated in Heidelberger Bachwoche.

Extensive international concert activities have led Karl- Heinz Halder throughout Europe, to the USA, Japan, Aus- tralia, South Africa, and China.
