Jasper Dijkstra (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor, Jasper Dijkstra, started singing at the age of seven as a boy alto in the boys' choir of the Sacramentskoor Breda. With that choir he contributed to the regular church services, but also to various performances of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), symphonies by Gustav Mahler and other major compositions. In addition, he studied Piano with André Telderman and Organ with Kees Stikkers. As a tenor he continued to sing for a number of years in the Sacramentskoor Breda and studied singing with Lucie Hillen.

Jasper Dijkstra currently studies Early Music Singing at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with main subject teacher Xenia Meijer. There he attended various master-classes from, among others, Charlotte Margiono and Margreet Honig. He is a member of the young early music ensemble Hieronymus, which consists of currently studying and ex-Early Music students from the conservatories in Amsterdam and The Hague, with whom he sang at the Early Music Festival in Utrecht. He also received multi-day coaching from Emma Kirkby through the Noorderkerkconcerten foundation. For two concert seasons from September 2019, he has been selected as a Young Bach Fellow at the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (which has been extended by 1 season due to the corona crisis).

In addition, Jasper Dijkstra works as a soloist and ensemble singer on several projects across The Netherlands, including various roles in J.S. Bach's Passions, Oratorios and Cantatas, Haydn's oratorios and George Frideric Handel's Messiah. He also sang with various choirs and professional ensembles, such as Le Nuove Musiche, Camerata Trajectina, PRJCT Amsterdam, Baroque ensemble De Swaen and Consensus Vocalis.
