Julia Diefenbach (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Limburg an der Lahn, Hesse, Germany

The German mezzo-soprano, Julia Diefenbach, studied singing with Melinda Paulsen and Thomas Heyer at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt. Before that, she studied music education and French in Mainz. She is currently working with Carol Meyer-Brütting (Frankfurt). She attended master-classes with Ulf Bästlein, Kurt Widmer, Ingeborg Danz and Noelle Turner.

Julia Diefenbach is a regular guest in ensembles such as the Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Vocalensemble Rastatt (Director: Holger Speck), La Stagione Frankfurt (Director: Michael Schneider) and the Solistenensemble Stimmkunst (Director: Kay Johannsen) and has worked with conductors such as Gabriel Garrido, Michael Hofstetter, Frieder Bernius, Michael Schneider, Holger Speck and Kay Johannsen. She has appeared at the Händel- Festspielen in Karlsruhe, Rheingau Musikfestival, Beethovenfest Bonn and Mecklenburg- Vorpommern Festspielen, and has made guest appearances at the Oper Frankfurt, Festspielhaus Baden- Baden and Staatstheater Mainz. She was last heard in the Kölner Philharmonie under the baton of Mahan Esfahani. She is also co-founder of the madrigal ensemble Teatro del Mondo (Director: Andreas Küppers).

In addition to her busy concert activities, Julia Diefenbach can also be heard in the opera sector. Last year as a Hexe (Witch) in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel und Gretel and in the role of Mehala in Rolle's Der Tod Abels, this year as Madre in Stradella's San Giovanni Battista with La Stagione Frankfurt conducted by Michael Schneider.

Numerous CD productions and radio recordings document Julia Diefenbach's artistic activity.

Julia Diefenbach was a voice trainer for the Mainzer Mädchenchor at the cathedral for ten years. She taught for four years at Stagecoach, a Schule für darstellende Künste in Frankfurt. She has been a singing teacher at the Städtischen Musikschule in Aschaffenburg since 2010 and has been teaching singing at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt since the 2013 summer semester. She is also a voice trainer in the singing classes at the Philipp-Reis-Schule in Friedrichsdorf.
