The chamber orchestra Concentus Hungaricus consisting of sixteen members, was founded in Budapest, Hungary by by Péter Popa in 1985. This Hungarian radio broadcast station orchestra is considered Hungary’s representative chamber orchestra. The ensemble consists of leading members of the Budapest Symphony Orchestra under the co-leadership of Ildikó Hegyi and Pál Andrássy. The ensemble has worked with world-renowned soloists, both leading Hungarian and foreign musicians, including Miklós Perényi (cello), György Pauk (violin) and Jenö Jandó (piano) and highly respected guest conductors such as Mátyás Antál. It performs frequently abroad and at home, and made recordings with a repertoire ranging from Purcell and Arcangelo Corelli to Arnold Schoenberg, Béla Bartók and Alban Berg. |
