2. The BWV Verzeichnis gives Zahn 368 with the melody title Ihr Knecht des Herren allzugleich
Another source gives Zahn 6002 Preis, Lob und Dank sei Gott dem Herren Geneva Psalter, 1551, but Zahn 460 is also related to the Geneva Psalter, 1551.
3. Hymnary.org presents 15 verses; Bach Digital presents only 5 verses [square brackets]. with slight differences [1]=1, [2]=2, [3]=5, [4]=8, [5]=11.

Description:

"Vor deinen Thron tret ich hiemit". First published in the New Ordentlich Gesang-Buch, Hannover, 1646, No. 217 (beginning "Für deinen Thron"), in 15 st. of 4 1., introduced by the words, "In the morning, at midday, and in the evening one can sing." In the Lüneburg Gesang-Buch, 1669, it is ascribed to Justus Gesenius, who had probably altered it somewhat. Included as No. 1131 in the Berlin Geistliche Lieder, ed. 1863. The only translation of this form is "Before Thy Throne I now appear," by J.C. Jacobi, 1720, p. 37 (1722, p. 108; 1732, p. 171). Another form is that given by Bunsea in his Versuch, 1833, No. 49, in 10 stanzas, beginning:
Ich danke dir mit Herz und Mund. St. i. is altered from st. xi.; st. ii.-x. are st. ii., v.-x., xiv., xv. The only translation of this form is "With heart, and mind, and every power," by H. J. Buckoll, 1842, p. 71. [Rev. James Mearns, M.A.)

1. Für deinen thron tret' ich hiermit,
O Gott! und dich demüthig bitt',
Wend' dein genädig angesicht
Von mir, dem armen sünder, nicht.

1. Before Thy throne I now appear,
O Lord, bow down Thy gracious ear
To me, and cast not from Thy face
Thy sinful child that sues for grace.

2. Du hast mich, o Gott Vater mild!
Gemacht nach deinem ebenbild,
In dir web', schweb' und lebe ich,
Vergehen müßt' ich ohne dich.

2. Thou Father of eternity,
Thine image hast impressed on me;
In Thee I am, and live, and move,
Nor can exist without Thy love.

3. Errettet hast du mich gar oft
Ganz wunderlich und unverhofft,
Da nur ein schritt, ja nur ein haar
Mir zwischen tod und leben war.

3. Oft hast Thou snatched me from distress,
And raised me oft when comfortless,
When but a step, nay, one hair’s breadth,
Was ’twixt my tott’ring life and death.

4. Verstand und ehr' hab' ich von dir,
Des lebens nothdurft gibst du mir,
Dazu auch einen treuen freund,
Der mich im glück und unglück meint.

4. My sense and reason come from Thee,
And sustenance Thou givest me;
A faithful friend Thou dost bestow,
To prove his love in weal and woe.

5. Gott Sohn! du hast mich durch dein blut
Erlöset von der höllengluth,
Das schwer' gesetz für mich erfüllt,
Dadurch des Vaters zorn gestillt.

5. Thou hast redeemed me, Son of God,
Hast shed for me Thy precious blood,
The Law for my sake hast fulfilled,
And thus Thy Father’s wrath hast stilled.

6. Wenn sünd' und satan mich anklagt,
Und mir das herz im leib verzagt,
Alsdann brauchst du dein mittleramt,
Daß mich der Vater nicht verdammt.

6. When sin and Satan witness bear
Against me that I must despair,
As Mediator step Thou in
And save me from the curse of sin.

7. Du bist mein' vorsprach' allezeit,
Mein heil, mein trost und meine freund',
Ich kann durch dein verdienst allein
Hier ruhig und dort selig sein.

7. Thou art my Advocate for aye,
My Savior, Comfort, and my Stay!
Thine all-sufficient merit is
On earth, my peace; in heav’n, my bliss.

8. Gott heil'ger Geist, du höchste kraft,
Deß gnade in mir alles schafft,
Ist etwas gut's am leben mein,
So ist es wahrlich lauter dein.

8. God, Holy Spirit, Pow’r divine!
Thou workest in this heart of mine;
Naught can be counted good in me,
But what proceeds alone from Thee.

9. Dein ist's, daß ich Gott recht erkenn',
Ihn meinen Herrn und Vater nenn',
Sein wahres wort und sakrament
Behalt' und lieb' bis an mein end'.

And call Him Father evermore;
Through Thee, His Word and Sacrament
I love and hold, till life is spent.

10. Daß ich fest in anfechtung steh',
Und nicht in trübsal untergeh',
Daß ich im herzen trost empfind',
Zuletzt mit freuden überwind'.

10. Through Thee, I’m in temptation free
From fear and sad despondency;
Through Thee, I’m quickened oft to taste
The sweetness of Thy heav’nly rest.

11. Drum dank ich dir mit herz und mund,
O Gott! in dieser (morgen, mittags,) abendstund'
Für alle güte, treu' und gnad',
|Die meine seel' empfangen hat.

11. And so I now give thanks to Thee
With heart and tongue most joyfully
For all Thy mercies, Lord, my God,
Which on my soul Thou hast bestowed.

12. Und bitt', daß deine gnadenhand
Bleib' über uns heunt (heut) ausgespannt,
Mein amt, gut, ehr', freund, leib und seel'
In deinen schutz ich dir befehl'.

12. Beseeching Thine almighty grace
To aid me, till I’ve run my race;
Soul, body, honor, house, and friend,
To Thy protection I commend.

13. Hilf! daß ich sei von herzen fromm,
Damit mein ganzes christhum
Aufrichtig und rechschaffen sei,
Nicht augenschein und heuchelei.

13. Give me a heart that is sincere
To love Thy truth and persevere
In faith and Christian piety
And shun all base hypocrisy.

14. Entlaß mich meiner sündenschuld,
