BCW: Going mobile

July 5, 2017:

I am glad to announce that the Bach Cantatas Website (BCW): http://www.bach-cantatas.com/
is now mobile-friendly using a responsive design. Responsive web design is an approach to web design aimed at allowing desktop web-pages to be viewed in response to the size of the screen or web browser one is viewing with. The desktop/laptop version of the BCW remains (almost) intact with some new features. But when you are browsing the BCW from a mobile device, a mobile version of the site is displayed. In other words, all the content of the BCW and its over 33,000 pages are now available on mobile devices.

It has been a huge project on which I have worked in recent months together with Oded-Shalev from Site4Mobile: http://site4mobile.co.uk/
He has demonstrated dedication to the job and high professional skills.

I would really like your feedback. Please visit the BCW on a mobile and let me know what you think. I hope you enjoy the BCW on mobile, but if you have any technical difficulties please email me:

Enjoy,

Aryeh Oron

I noticed the change just a couple of days ago - it's fantastic. The website was formerly fairly difficult to navigate and read on a smart phone - the mobile version is a vast improvement. I haven't thoroughly investigated every nook and cranny of the website, of course, but everything I've seen has been great. I will note in particular that I have found it easy to navigate and get to the information I want, which is not always the case with a "mobile" version of a site.

Many thanks to you and everyone involved in making this great resource even better.

Greetings Aryeh and everyone.

So I checked the BCW on my Samsung tablet and it is wonderful.

You have become an immortal on the Internet and worthy of a little statue right next to any of J.S. Bach's one as one of its greatest devotee. (Make it discreet and in bronze!)

For sure some links are dead but that's impermanence for you.

I am as amazed as grateful for your passion.

Thank you for all of your work. With my new MacBook Pro, I can access all kinds of sources and more greatly appreciate the work you do. The BCW on-line is a unique resource, especially the unique work you do on recordings and text translations — found nowhere else. These should be housed permanently with the Bach Arkiv Leipzig.

You have done a remarkable job with this new presentation of the site Bach Cantatas. Consultation is much easier and helps me a lot. Thank you. <>
