Bach Memorabilia

Memo-2775

Type:

Bach Print

Title:

Wagner-Beethoven-Bach-Mozart- 1913 -- Musicians

Description:

These four (4) 1914 prints are about 93 years old. A great piece of history. I have grouped these together as one lot because all four have vertical folds on left side from original binding in the magazine.
Featured are four of the greatest musicians ever: Wagner, Beethoven, Bach, and Mozart.
This original print is from an issue of The Mentor magazine. The Mentor is the name of a magazine first published in 1913 (thru 1931) by The Mentor Association, "Established for the Development of a Popular Interest in Art, Literature, Science, History, Nature and Travel". The Mentor Library was vast and covered a wide range of interesting topics. Many of the covers themselves (especially the later color ones) are all very artistic and fine works of art, and are highly collectible! Each issue contained an article about a specific subject and several (4-6) tipped-in individual intaglio-gravures (either sepia-toned or [rarely] full color) as representative samples of the topics.
Intaglio gravure - a printing process that uses an etched or engraved plate; the plate is smeared with ink and wiped clean, then the ink left in the recesses makes the print.

Measures:

* Gravures are blank on the back.
* Measurements: Approx 6-1/2" x 9"
