Gino Tagliapietra (Composer, Arranger)

Born: May 30, 1887 - Ljubljana
Died: Aug. 8, 1954 - Venice, Italy

The ltalian pianist, teacher, and composer, Gino Tagliapietra, studied piano with Julius Epstein in Vienna and with Ferruccio Busoni in Berlin. In 1906 he was appointed to the faculty of the Liceo Benedetto Marcello in Venice; retired in 1940.

Gino Tagliapietra's compositions include a fiaba musicale (ballet), La bella addormentata nel bosco (Venice, March 11, 1926); Piano Concerto (1913); Variazioni a fantasia for Piano and Strings (1930); Requiem (1923), and various choral works; Violin Sonata (1937); songs; many piano pieces and various didactic works. He edited anthology of keyboard music in 18 volumes Antologia di musica antica e moderna per il pianoforte (Milan, 1931-1932) and Raccolta di composizioni del secoli XVI e XVII (Milan, 1937).
