Jochen Neurath (Composer, Arranger)

Born: August 13, 1968 - Celle, Lower Saxony, Germany

The German composer, arranger and conductor, Jochen Neurath, studied composition, piano and music theory at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He also attended private composition studies with Horst Lohse, and studies in Germanic and philosophy.

In 1990 he founded with Kay Ivo Nowáck und Johannes Harneit the composer trio NeuNoNeit. In 1993 he conducted the German premiere of John Cage's Europera 5 in Hamburg (in combination with Socrate by Erik Satie). He now works as a freelance composer, conductor, pianist and arranger in Berlin. He spent 2001-2006 as a Composer in Residence at the Staatsoper Hannover. Performance credits include the 2001 production of Nicolas Stemanns Orestie at the Schauspiel Hanover Theater and the 2003 collaboration with Christoph Marthalers Lieber Nicht at the Volksbhne in Berlin. In 2008 he premiered his opera Agrippina at the State Opera Stuttgart. He has composed works for theatre, orchestra, soloists and ensembles. Among his students Peter Nicholas Häublein (b 1980)
