Christian Jacob Koitsch (Poet)

Born: September 13, 1671 - Meißen, Saxony, Germany
Died: August 21, 1734 - Elbing, Germany

Christian Jacob [Jakob] Koitsch was a German pietist, theologian and poet of songs. On August 25, 1696 he was registered in Halle for studies of theology and was first among the promising students of A.W. Francke and J.J. Breithaupt and finally successor of Jakob Baumgartens as teacher in the Francke donation. Between 1700 and 1705 Koitsch worked as a supervisor of the Pädagogiums in Halle. In 1705 he was appointed as professor and a rector of the Gymnasium (High School) in Elbing.

Christian Jacob Koitsch contributed songs to the Neuen Geistreichen Gesangbuch of J.A. Freylinghausen.
