Joachim à Burck (Hymn-Writer, Composer)

Born: 1546 - Burg bei Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
Died: May 24, 1610 - Mühlhausen, Thuringia, Germany

The German composer, Joachim à [Moller, Joachim] Burck [Joachim von Burck], was educated in Magdeburg and elsewhere. He was Kantor (1563) at the grammar school and organist (1566) of St Blassius, Mühlhausen, and a public official there.

After early polyphonic motet publications, Joachim à Burck became known as a prolific composer of sacred homophonic songs and odes in an up-to-date style. He also published several Passions, hymns, psalms and many occasional pieces.
