Wolfgang Auler (Arranger)

Born: May 21, 1904 - Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.
Died: 1986

The German organist and arranger, Wolfgang Auler, studied in Dortmund, Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig, among others, with Karl Straube.

Wolfgang Auler was organist in Gottesberg und Berlin. He taught at the Hochschule für Lehrerbildung in Hirschberg; from 1939 to 1941 at the Konservatorium in Linz; from 1941 to 1949 at the Staatsmusikschule in Braunschweig; and from 1949 to 1953 at the Musikhochschule Köln. In addition, he held the post of organ expert of the Evangelischen Kirche (Evangelical Church) of Westphalia. In 1961 he was appointed Director of Church Music (KMD). During the period of National Socialism Auler advocated next to Gotthold Frotscher the inclusion of the organ in National Socialist party. Among his students: Martin Lücker and Edith Picht-Axenfeld.
