History & Mission: |
The Bach Collegium San Diego: A Vocal And Period Instrument Ensemble, was founded in 2003 by Ruben Valenzuela to enrich San Diego's music community with historically informed performances of the Renaissance, Baroque, and in particular the vocal works of J.S. Bach.
During its first five seasons, the ensemble has earned an impressive reputation, captivating diverse audiences by their unique style, and their virtuosic and highly expressive and provocative approach to the music of the Renaissance, Baroque and Classical periods.
Many of its instrumentalists and vocalists have longstanding experience with such ensembles as The Academy of Ancient Music, American Bach Soloists, Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, Festival Ensemble Stuttgart (Bachakademie Stuttgart), Oregon Bach Festival Chorus, and the Philharmonia Chorale. |
