The German choral conductor and organist, Carsten Zündorf, studied Protestant church music at the Folkwang Hochschule für Musik in Essen concluding with the A-exam (majoring in organ with Professor Gisbert Schneider, majoring in choral conducting with Professor Ralf Otto) as well as choral and orchestral conducting with the completion of the Artistic Matura (also with Professor Ralf Otto). During his studies, he worked as a church musician at the Johanneskirche in Velbert.
From November 1992 to January 2006 he was Kantor at the Alten Kirche Wupperfeld in Wuppertal-Barmen, since 2001 also Kantor at the main church of Unterbarmen. In 1992 in Wuppertal, he founded the vocal ensemble Capella Coristi. From 2000 to 2005 he was artistic director of the Wuppertal Orgeltage. Since February 1, 2006 he is Church Music Director of Church Music at St. Marien in Osnabrück, including the Marienkantorei Osnabrück.
Carsten Zündorf directs choral conducting classes and choral work weeks for the Landesverband der Kirchenchöre (National Association of Church Choirs) in the Rhineland, for the Internationalen Arbeitskreis für Musik IAM (International Working Group IAM) and music for the Choir Academy of Sienna. He teaches at the University of Wuppertal and at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, Wuppertal location.
