Markus Werba (Baritone)

Born: November 14, 1976 - Kärnten, Austria

The Austrian baritone, Markus Werba, began his vocal training aged 16. Later he studied singing at the Klagenfurt conservatory and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna He has won numerous first prizes in various singing competitions in Austria, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, Japan and in the UK.

Despite his relative youth Markus Werba has already established a remarkable career and is now regarded as one of the leading baritones of his generation. He has a wide range of repertoire from the complete Mozart/Da Ponte operas to Gustav Mahlerr and Robert Schumann which he recites at prestigious venues all over the globe including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera New York, Los Angeles Opera, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Suntory Hall Japan, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, Salzburg Festival and Baden-Baden Festival.
