Iris Wagner (Soprano)

Born: Wiesbaden, Germany

The German soprano and singing teacher, Iris Wagner-Göttelmann, received her first singing instruction when she was 16. After training at Logopädin (Ulm/ Heidelberg), she studied singing in Würzburg und Heidelberg with Professor Annemarie Grünewald, and finished in 1989 with concert and teaching exams. Resuming studies led her to Barbara Schlick with "Performance Practice of Early Music" and to Eva Marguerre ("Functional Voice Training" after Gisela Rohmert).

Since 1992 Iris Wagner is ensemble member of the Schola Heidelberg under the direction of Professor Walter Nussbaum Hanover (emphasis on contemporary music). She has participated in numerous premieres, broadcast and CD recordings in her homeland and abroad. Together with her husband, Stefan Göttelmann and the trumpeter Friedhelm Biessecker she created in 1991 her "Trio con tromba Heidelberg“." Their repertoire reaches from the early music to contemporary compositions, and they have taken part in numerous broadcast and CD recordings.
