Founded: 1946 – Los Angeles, USA
The Roger Wagner Chorale began as a 12-member madrigal group in 1946 and has since become known as America’s premier vocal ensemble and the possessor of an enviable international reputation. It was founded under the name of the Concert Youth Chorus, immediately expanded to a roster of 32, and followed its debut in December 1946 was launched into a busy performance schedule.
Under the able direction of Roger Wagner, the Chorale lays claim to an expansive repertoire, performing and recording the major works for chorus and Orchestra. The members have toured throughout the USA, Europe, Asia (including Russia), and have premiered many contemporary works.
